Seasonal VM & Retail Assistant

Do you love creating beautiful displays? Do you have a keen eye for colours, shapes, and product placement? Do you like to work both independently and as part of a team. Then we are looking for you!

We are seeking a creative and experienced Visual Merchandising Assistant for our wonderful store here at Archerfield walled Garden. Helping bring to life the Christmas magic inside and outside the store.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Merchandising stock with guidance from the Visual Manager

  • Assist in creating seasonal displays 

  • Maintaining the stores visual presentation 

  • Serve and assist customers where needed

  • Stock replenishment 

  • Handling cash and operate the till

Qualities we’re looking for:

  • Experience working in Visual Merchandising and Retail

  • Have a keen interest and passion for displays that sell 

  • Demonstrating a professional, enthusiastic and flexible approach.

  • Able to promote excellent teamwork and supporting other retail departments when needed. 

  • Work with energy, pace and passion.

Please note this is currently a seasonal role with the possibility of becoming a permanent role in the future. 

Core hours are 3 days a week, but a flexible schedule is needed.

Reporting to: Retail Manager / VM Manager 

Seasonal position: October – End of December 

Rate of Pay: £12.40 per hour

Seasonal Christmas Tree Assistant

As part of the upcoming festive season, we are looking to recruit a Christmas Tree Assistant to provide friendly and efficient customer service, assisting with the sale and preparation of Christmas trees and maintaining the appearance of the display area. This is a physically demanding role that requires working outdoors in varying weather conditions and a positive attitude during the busy festive period. 

Key responsibilities:

  • Customer service: Greeting customers, answer questions about different types of trees (e.g. fir, spruce) and assisting them in selecting the perfect tree.

  • Sales & Operations: Help customers with purchases, operate the till and handle cash and card payments

  • Tree preparation: Prepare trees for customers by netting them and assisting them to their vehicles.

  • Display maintenance: Unload tree deliveries, organise and replenish stock and maintain the cleanliness and presentation of the sales area.

  • Physical labour: Regularly move, carry and stand-up trees for display and transport.

Qualities we’re looking for:

  • Excellent communication skills: Ability to effectively communicate with customers and colleagues.

  • Physical fitness: Capable to handle heavy lifting and working long hours on your feet.

  • Team player: A practical mindset and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.

  • Positive attitude: Friendly, enthusiastic, and enjoys engaging with the public during a busy and festive time of year.

  • Problem-solving: Able to identity customer needs and resolve any issues courteously and efficiently 

  • Outdoor work: Comfortable working outdoors for extended periods in all types of weather conditions. 

Please note this is currently a seasonal role working 4/5 days a week including weekends.  

Reporting to: Plant Shop Manager

Seasonal position: Mid November – End of December

Rate of Pay: £12.40 per hour
