Bike, Walk, Run

Explore the Estate & beyond. Archerfield Walled Garden is set within the beautiful landscape of Archerfield Estate. We have created an extensive network of pathways to encourage our visitors to walk, bike and run around the Estate, including a Willow Walk and Fairy Trail for all the family. 

So bring the kids and the dog and get set for a nature-rich activity before heading back into the Garden Café for a restorative bite to eat, a refreshing drink of craft ale and/or a hot cuppa.

The Bike Hub

The Bike Hub at Archerfield Walled Garden is a brand new one stop shop for cyclists in East Lothian. Take advantage of bike hire, servicing and maintenance, guided social rides, as well as route recommendations for all types of bikes, experience levels and visitors.

Open Thur – Mon 9:30-5:00. Check out the amazing array of hire bikes and accessories on offer from electric bikes to tandems and kids trailers! 

Running Routes

If you love running, why not try out some these running routes through gorgeous countryside and around the village of Dirleton. 

Regular Fitness Classes and Bike Groups

  • Ride Outs with The Bike Hub. Thursdays at 6.00pm for intermediate riders. Usually 20 miles depending on the weather. These ride outs happen throughout the winter so you'll need good lights if it's dark.  
    If the conditions pose a danger, such as high wind, ice, snow, freezing rain or all of the above, it would be cancelled. Contact The Bike Hub at the link above if in doubt! 
  • Outdoor Circuit Class with Vharri McMinn Personal Training. Thursdays at 9.15-10.15am. £6 per class. Meet at the pond. Suitable for all fitness levels - variations on the exercise can be given. For more information contact Vharri on 07971606131. The class runs through winter and in all weather. 
  • Outdoor Fitness Class with Crossfit East Rocks. Fridays at 9.15-10.15am. First session FREE. Sessions thereafter £10 per class, or £45 for x 5. Classes limited to 10. CrossFit is a really effective way to get fit, it combines a wide variety of functional movements into a timed or scored workout. You'll make some awesome friends and have fun regardless of experience, anyone can do it!

John Muir Way

The John Muir Way stretches 134 miles or 215 km across Scotland, running between Helensburgh in the west through to Dunbar on the east coast and Muir's birthplace. From Archerfield Estate, you can jump straight onto the Way and cycle or walk as much or as little as you like.
